Porsche Panamera Exploit Test Clocks 70MPH at 52 MPG

Published by PGI Auto on March 31st, 2012

When it comes to hybrid vehicles, it can be difficult to maintain an excellent MPG while continually pushing the power through your car that allows it maintain a speed of over 70MPH.  This is where the Porsche Panamera Hybrid sports car has the advantage over all the rest.  Who wouldn’t want to maintain their 52 MPG capabilities while still being able to drive the quick speed their used to?

These readings of 52 mpg over 100 or so miles of cruise-control travel exploited the Porsche system’s ability to power the car electrically at speeds of 70MP, though many hybrids only run in all-electric mode up to about 30 mph.

The 2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid is EPA rated at 22 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, for a combined overall rating of 25 mpg, so you can see how exciting the discovery of this exploit was.  In a time when many car companies are being taken to court for advertising more MPG than they actually have, Porsche is able to double their advertised MPG under certain conditions.

Porsche Talks About What They Have In Store For The Near Future

Published by PGI Auto on March 15th, 2012

As with most auto manufacturers, Porsche’s goal of upping their fuel efficiency is a major theme of the near future.  Unlike many automakers, Porsche is not willing to compromise even a little bit of performance in their vehicles.  The opposite, in fact.  They want their fuel efficiency and performance to both climb simultaneously.  Their priority is for their customers to always feel like they’re driving the best in sports cars, no matter what the MPG.

The Macan compact crossover is something Porsche enthusiasts have been looking forward to for some time now.  The Macan is a 4 cylinder with a fuel economy focus geared towards the younger and more urban populous.  The compact SUV crossover is one of the fastest growing segments in the industry right now and Porsche has estimated selling over 50,000 Macans for its debut year.

Porsche CEO Mueller has told automotive media that the Porsche engineers plan to build plug-in hybrid versions of the Cayenne and the Panamera in the near future, also.  For more information about these vehicles or to take a look at any current Porsche, contact Barrier Porsche.

Porsche Unveils New Boxster

Published by PGI Auto on March 8th, 2012

During the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Europe’s largest International Motor Show, Porsche unveiled their redesigned Porsche Boxster.  The all-new Boxster is set to hit showrooms this summer for the 2013 model year.  They’ve made excellent improvements on the Boxster and are receiving compliments from all sides of the automotive industry.

The new engines in the Boxters are not only lighter, helping the power in them to make the car even more powerful, but produce more HP than before, giving an extra boost.  The 0-60 time is lower; how much lower depends on whether you opt for the six-speed manual transmission or the seven-speed dual-clutch one.  Porsche has also described the engines as being 15% more efficient than the current Porsches while getting better MPG.

The Porsche designer have even gone so far as to redesign and upgrade the independent suspension structure of the lighter Boxster, generating better handling and drifting.  The new electromechanical steering system also helps with this.

Rare Porsche Found In Original Condition

Published by PGI Auto on March 1st, 2012

Classic and custom Porsche’s are extremely coveted in the automotive world.  Finding a currently rare Porsche that has been untouched by custom design or restoration is a big deal.  It would be like living in a world full of already painted canvases and coming upon the most exquisite empty canvas.

The Porsche recently unearthed in Ireland that is causing a stir in the Porsche community is an unrestored, right hand drive 1972 Porsche 911S.  What is even more astonishing about the vehicle is its low miles and original Signal Yellow paint color.  There are a few features in this car that pertain to only the earlier 911Ses and are not often found in original condition.  These include the ‘H1′ headlamps and aluminum engine lid and rear center panel.

The car was sold to the auto specialist company Autofarm, who plans to do a modest restoration on the vehicle and sell it for a projected 100,000 Euros.
