The Auto Industry Has Plenty to Look Forward to From Porsche

Published by PGI Auto on April 30th, 2012

Most auto manufacturers tend to release one new generation of one model per year, or a couple refreshes.  They do this to allow the media and advertising spotlights to focus on one vehicle and to keep the momentum going each year.  Well, Porsche has figured out a different way to keep the momentum going each year – just make new models and new refreshes of every vehicle.

Next year, Porsche will be rolling out the restylied Panamera which will likely include a long-wheelbase model for the Chinese market, as well as a potential shooting brake and a possible four-seat cabriolet.

A slant-back version of the Cayenne is also said to be in the works, with a new Cayman later this year and a generous array of 911 variants to come over the next few years. Somewhere in there will be the new Macan crossover, the Pajun (baby Panamera) and a pair of new supercars: the new 918 and 960.

Published by PGI Auto on April 27th, 2012

May 2012 marks the 60 year anniversary of the first Porsche Club which was founded in Westphalia. Their goal was to unite all Porsche drivers in friendship and comradeship.  A year after this first Porsche Club, in 1953, the Porsche Club began its international success.  in 1955, a private group of American Porsche customers, who were providing one another with technical support, spawned the Porsche Club of America, which nowadays represents the largest Porsche Club organization in the world

Now, there are 640 official Porsche Clubs throughout 75 countries.  These clubs total 181,000 members and make up the world’s largest automotive sector brand club.

To honor the Clubs’ 60th anniversary, The Porsche Museum is celebrating with a special exhibition from 26 May to 26 August 2012.  It will be a chance for Club members to exhibit their unique Porsche vehicles and relate their personal Porsche stories and experiences. Porsche to Purchase Nardo Test Facility in Italy

Published by PGI Auto on April 16th, 2012

Porsche has announced that it will purchase the famous Nardo test facility in southern Italy next month.  Not only will Porsche own the 7.8 mile race track that encircles farmland in the area, but they will also take over the 4 mile handling course, off-road areas, noise testing area and others.  With Nardo’s mild weather, Porsche is sure that testing will be more effecient than the facilities in Germany.

The Nardo track is famous in the world of fast cars and has been used to test and demonstrate extremely fast cars.  The track is six lanes wide and banked so that any vehicle driving in the outside lane can drive up to 149 miles per hour while keeping the steering wheel in a center position.

Since Porsche plans to overhaul their entire entire lineup by 2016, the auto manufacturer will have plenty of vehicles to test in their new facility.

Porsche To Debut 2013 Cayenne GTS

Published by PGI Auto on April 13th, 2012

The 2012 Beijing Auto Show happens in 11 days and Porsche is gearing up to celebrate the world premiere of their brand-new 2013 Cayenne GTS during the auto show’s festivities.  From the information they have released about this anticipated sports car in an SUV’s body, we know the new Cayenne GTS will have a more powerful engine, more dynamic power delivery and a tauter chassis with lower ride height.

Under the new hood is an 8 cylinder engine producing 420HP, allowing the GTS to reach 62 MPH in only 5.7 seconds and reach 100 MPH in just 13 seconds.  Who wouldn’t want to drive their SUV 130 MPH?  At least you know there’s one that allows you to.  The engine is connected to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission.

The exterior has been updated with a sportier and sleeker look and given the front-end of the Cayenne Turbo.  You’ll find more prominent side skirts, wider wheel arches and a unique roof spoiler.  The interior features standard leather with Alcantara elements.  We only have to wait 11 more days to see the full vehicle and all the new specifics.
